This has to be one of the strangest looking motorcycles on the road and looks kind of like a lady beetle crossed with a Harley Davidson
The uptake of electric vehicles is usually limited by how far they can travel on a single charge, with experts even coining a new term to describe the feeling of uncertainty over whether you have enough power to reach your destination; ‘range anxiety’.
Now one Austrian company is hoping to tackle the problem with the introduction of the Johammer J1 – an electric bike that can travel 125 miles (200km) on a single charge.
Despite its futuristic styling the biggest feature of this electric bike is the fantastic battery range. Fitted with a beefy 12.7 kWh battery stack, the Johammer joins the Zero S ZF11.4 among the first electric bikes to boast a 200 km (124 mi) range when fully charged. That’s a significant psychological number for bikers, because 200 km is a decent fuel range for a petrol-powered bike.
Johammer have developed their own battery units and provide a guaranteed service life of the battery is 200,000 km (124,000 mi) or four years without dropping below 85 percent of the new battery’s capacity.
The electric motor and controller are integrated into the rear wheel and Johammer claim that no maintenance is required.
Another unique design feature is that all dash displays are integrated into each of the round rear-view mirrors. High resolution 2.4″ colour screens provide information relating to speed, revs, warnings etc. at-a-glance.
You can take the Johammer for a ride with a cycling tour in the most breath-taking locations in Upper Austria and Southern Bohemia.
